Active infection or inflammation in the treatment area, an untreated skin condition that should be addressed first, pregnancy or breastfeeding for most cosmetic treatments, recent isotretinoin for resurfacing, and a recent sunburn or a tan in progress. Certain medications and a history of keloids or cold sores change the plan rather than cancel it.
We will also decline when the goal cannot be reached with the treatment being requested. That conversation is shorter than the one that happens after a disappointing result.
